CALDAS in Colombia

Nestled in the verdant Colombian Andes lies the Caldas region – a place where coffee isn't just grown, it's a way of life. The fertile volcanic soil, the mild climate, and the high altitude give the beans their distinctive character. But it's the people who truly make Caldas special. One of them is Olga Lucia Bustamante , who runs her farm with passion and dedication. Together with her team, she hand-picks every coffee cherry, aiming not only to produce the finest coffee but also to embrace social responsibility and create opportunities for her community. Caldas is more than just a region – it's a vibrant piece of culture, tradition, and hope, captured in every single cup of coffee.

Our team

Markus Bischof

Swiss precision meets Colombian passion – a life between coffee, culture and character.

I'm Markus – the mastermind behind Caldas Coffee and a family man with Swiss roots and a deep passion for quality, nature, and coffee. Growing up in idyllic Kirchberg, I learned early on the importance of craftsmanship and dedication – values that still guide me today.

After my apprenticeship at Mövenpick, my career path led me through many positions into the world of precision and innovation. Today, I manage the North American office of IMD AG, a leading manufacturer of camera inspection systems – a role that demands organizational talent, accuracy, and a strong sense of responsibility.

My fascination with coffee was rekindled during a business trip to Manizales, Colombia. Encounters with local farmers, the aroma of freshly roasted beans, and the knowledge of the endangered tapirs in the region awakened in me the desire to do more – to learn more, to share more, to preserve more.

This is how Caldas Coffee came to be: a union of passion and responsibility, of enjoyment and awareness. My goal is to share the authentic taste of Colombian specialty coffees – and at the same time raise awareness for the protection of tapirs.

Lead with clarity. Connect with heart. Inspire sustainably.

Olga Lucia Bustamante

A global citizen with heart, a producer with conviction, an ambassador of Colombian coffee culture

I am Olga Lucía Bustamante – a native Colombian, an international project manager, and a coffee farmer at heart. My journey has taken me from the Andes of Colombia, through Bogotá and the Netherlands, to the world of international organizations – including the UN, the ESA, and the European Patent Office.

But after years in a global context, I felt drawn back to my roots. On a finca in the Caldas department – at an altitude of 1700 meters – I found not only peace, but also a new calling: to combine sustainable coffee cultivation with social commitment and international quality standards.

What drives me is not quantity, but quality – my focus is on single-origin highland coffees: Colombia Supremo, Castillo Naranjal, Pink Bourbon. Carefully fermented, sun-dried, and produced with love. My finca is certified by Fair Trade, UTZ, Rainforest Alliance, and BPA – not as a marketing label, but as a lived responsibility.

But for me, coffee is more than just a product – it's a social vehicle. I support local schools, a retirement home, give English lessons to young people, and enable concrete improvements on the ground through targeted donations.

With CALDAS Coffee I share not only my harvest, but also my conviction: that quality, humanity and sustainability can all find a place together in one cup.

Back to our roots. Forward with vision. With an open heart and deep connection.

Adriana

Agronomist with a mission, coffee expert with a global perspective, mentor of taste

I am Adriana García Marín – born in Caldas, rooted in coffee, and passionate about quality, knowledge transfer, and fair cooperation for over 20 years.

My journey began in agronomy – where understanding nature and development aid go hand in hand. For over 17 years, I worked as a consultant for small and family farms in the heart of the Colombian highlands, often on foot, through rain and across fields. My goal: sustainable yields, better living conditions, and pride in the faces of coffee farmers.

Awarded the Best Agricultural Advisor in Caldas, I then moved to Antioquia to work as a quality manager for an international coffee company. I was able to work with producers in the Sierra Nevada, on Kilimanjaro, and in Colombia's best growing regions, learning about fermentation, specialty coffee, and the honey process, and developing my sense for flavors that tell stories. Coffee has taken me around the world—to trade fairs in South Korea, Canada, Finland, and the USA. As a lecturer, juror, and consultant, I advocate for transparent quality and knowledge transfer—with my head, heart, and experience.

Today, I live and work in Caldas again. I roast our coffee with dedication, developing roast profiles that bring the terroir to life – for people who love real coffee and appreciate its origins. With CALDAS Coffee, I share my vision: Coffee is not a trend – it is a cultural asset. It deserves respect, depth, and people who understand it.

From field to cup. With competence, care, and soul.
